Everything We Need
Welcome to be on Sunday and day 18 of anchored in God's promises. Each day. This month we've been holding onto a verse that reminds us who God is, what he's promised, and how that changes the way we live. Today's passage is from second Peter verse chapter one, verses three and four, and it's a game changer. It's the reminder that we're not lacking anything when it comes to living the life. God has called us to listen to this. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these, he has given us his very great and precious promises so that through them you may participate in the divine nature. Having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires, Peter begins by anchoring everything in the source, his divine power. It's not our willpower, it's not our discipline. It's not our good intentions. If the Christian life depended solely on our strength, we'd burn out quickly, but we're fueled by the very power of God. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead. Ephesians one 19 inch, one that means no calling he's given you is too big for his power to sustain. This is present reality, not future possibility. The verse says, has given past tense. God has already supplied everything necessary for you to live a godly life. You don't need to wait for some spiritual upgrade or hidden piece of information. The toolbox is full, the resources are in place, and the spirit is within you. It's like being given the keys to a fully stocked house. You're not waiting for the delivery truck to show up. It's already yours. All of this flows through our knowledge of him, not just head knowledge, but personal relational knowledge. The more we know him, not just about him, the more we access what he's already provided. Think of it like learning to use what's in the toolbox. You might have every tool, but until you understand what they're for, they won't help you. Knowing him deepens trust and trust opens the door to living in the reality of his promise. Peter says, God has given us very great and precious promises. Promises that aren't just comforting. They're not just comforting words, they're transformative power. Why? Because these promises enable us to participate in the divine nature, to grow in Christ's likeness, to reflect his character, to live differently in a world that's going the opposite way. And the promises aren't the theoretical, they're personal. They meet us in our fear, our weakness and temptation, and call us higher. Now, Peter closes by saying, these promises allow us. To escape the corruption in the world caused by our evil desires. In other words, God's power and promises don't just help us survive. They free us from being controlled by the same patterns that destroy lives. It's not just about avoiding sin, it's about living in freedom. Freedom to love when it's hard. Freedom to forgive when it's undeserved. Freedom to stand firm when the world says go along to get along. I remember talking with a believer who had just gone through a season of deep loss. She told me, I never thought I could endure something like this. But when it happened, I realized God had been preparing me for years. His word, his spirit, his people, they carried me. She didn't suddenly receive new spiritual strength in the moment It was already there, built over time through her relationship with him. That's what Peter means when he says, you already have what you need because you already have him. So here's your challenge today. Take one area of your life where you feel under equipped, whether that's in parenting, marriage, ministry, or personal growth. And pray this, God, you've already given me everything I need for this. Help me access it through knowing you more deeply and then open his word. Find one promise that speaks into that situation and hold onto it like your life depends on him. Let's pray. Father, thank you. That we're not walking through life empty handed. Thank you for giving us everything we need for a godly life through knowing you. Teach us to rely on your power to clinging, to your promises, and to live in the freedom you've already secured for us. In Jesus' name, amen. Thank you so much for joining me today with day 18 of Anchored and God's promises. If today's reminder encourage you, send it to someone who needs to hear that they already have what they need in Christ. I'll see you back here tomorrow.
