Every Promise Finds Its Yes in Christ

Nicholas Williams

Welcome back to Be on Sunday, and thanks for being here for day 10 of our anchored in God's Promises series. Whether this is your 10th straight day or your very first, I'm so glad you're making space to begin your morning in God's word. Today's promise is all about confidence, not in ourselves, but in the one who keeps His word. It comes from Second Corinthians one 20. For no matter how many promises God has made, they are yes in Christ, and so through him, the Amen is spoken by us to the glory. Of God. God doesn't make empty promises. Let's start with that first phrase, no matter how many promises God has made, that's a bold statement. When you consider that the Bible contains hundreds, some scholars say over 7,000 promises that God has spoken to his people, and this verse tells us something remarkable. He keeps them all. We live in a world full of broken promises. People let us down. Contracts fall through, words get twisted. Trust is fragile, but not with God. His promises aren't marketing. They're not bait and switch. They are covenant and every single one of them is anchored in Christ. Paul says that all of God's promises find their yes in Christ. That means Jesus is both the fulfillment and the guarantee of everything that God has promised. Need peace. Jesus is your peace. Need hope. He's the living hope, need, strength, salvation, forgiveness, purpose. Yes. He is the yes in every one of those needs. This verse points to something beautiful. God doesn't just offer promises. He gives us a person. Jesus is the yes to your deepest longings and the amen to your prayers. He's the evidence that God didn't just say he loved us, he proved it. This verse continues and says, and so through him the Amen is spoken by us. In other words, when we recognize that all of God's promises are fulfilled in Jesus. Our role is to agree to say amen. Not as a religious word, to end a prayer, but as a heart level agreement. Yes, God, I believe you. I trust you. Faith is our echo of God's faithfulness. Every time we say amen to one of God's promises, we're declaring let it be so in my life, I receive that. I stand on that. I walk not by fear, but by faith. I remember a woman in our church who had been praying for years for her son to come back to the Lord. She held on to scriptures like Proverbs 22, 6, train up a child in the way he should go. Even when things looked helpless year after year, it seemed like nothing was changing. But she didn't stop praying. She didn't stop saying amen. Then one Sunday morning, she looked across the room and there he was sitting alone in the back row, tears in his eyes. A heart cracked open. Later she told me God didn't forget his promise. I just needed to keep saying yes until I saw it. Here's your challenge today. What's one promise from God that you've been struggling to believe? Maybe it's his promise to never leave you. Maybe it's his promise to provide. Maybe it's his promise to give you peace, restore what's been lost, or even guide your steps. Write it down and then underneath it simply write. Amen. Let that be your way of saying, I still believe I'm still holding on, and your promises are yes in Christ. Let's pray. Father, thank you for being a promise keeper. Thank you that every word you've spoken finds its yes in Jesus. Help us to stand firm today, even when we don't see the full picture yet. Teach us to say amen with confidence, trusting that you're faithful and good. In Jesus name, amen. Thank you for joining me today for another episode of Anchored in God's Promises. If today's reminder encouraged your faith, would you pass it on to somebody else and don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss a single day. I'll see you right back here tomorrow.
